Fishing Report Week Ending 26 March 2017

It was a bumper week for some anglers at the Loch. Regular John Middleton had a cracking 6lb11oz over wintered rainbow with a tail like a spade and fought like mad. But the best boat this week was S. and T. Moody with 22 on c/r on boobies, buzzer and cormorants. Close behind with 18 to the boat on c/r was Andy McAdam and Scott Aitken on fabs and crunchers. Also Stevie from the Falkirk Fly Dressers had 9 on c/r. Fred Padon had 5 on c/r fishing black and green. Phoenix A.C. had 12 for 30.5lb and one on c/r. The hot spot is definitely at the heather banks in front of the cottage. David Ezzi was out for three hours and had 16 from there. That is where the boat that had 22 was fishing also. So that area is well worth a try. The weather is certainly to be warmer this week so the fish will become even more active. A big stocking of blues are coming this week so I am sure we are in for another bumper week. Midge tip lines or a fast glass, are all that are needed at the moment with a slow or steady retrieve. Fast pulling is not working at the moment. The fish that were spooned are on the buzzers now. Andy the head warden from Rutland was telling me today that they are on the buzzer also. That is early for the naturals to be moving up the water column. But if the buzzers are on, the fish are feeding and you should get some great sport. Phone 07527 254811 to book a boat. Remember we are hosting a heat of the sierra pairs competition this year. Phone the office or check out the web site for details and get booked in.
